Questions and answers

Before you buy

1. What do I need to run Nucleum Hub?

Home Assistant 2026.3 or newer, an administrator account for the install, and a screen with a recent browser: a wall tablet, a phone, a computer. HACS makes the install one click, but you can also install from a zip. The requirements have the details.

2. Does it work on Home Assistant Container or Core?

Yes. Nucleum Hub installs as an integration, not as an add-on (app), so it runs on every installation type: Home Assistant OS, Container, Core and Supervised.

3. Which tablets and phones does it work on?

We test on iPhone, iPad, MacBook, a Windows PC and the Honor Pad X8a Android tablet. Other tablets, kiosk tablets and TVs often work, but we cannot promise it until we have tested one. Open the demo on your device before you buy.

4. Do I need to write YAML or install custom cards?

No. A setup assistant reads what your Home Assistant already has and builds the dashboard. You change it on the screen: add cards, drag to resize, pick colours.

5. Does it replace my Home Assistant dashboards?

No. It sits next to them, in the sidebar. Your devices, automations and other dashboards stay as they are.

6. Is it made by Home Assistant?

No. Nucleum Hub is an independent product. Home Assistant is a trademark of the Open Home Foundation, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Open Home Foundation or Nabu Casa.

Privacy and reliability

7. Does it send my data anywhere?

The dashboard talks only to your Home Assistant. Its code loads nothing from the internet. Only our integration, from your Home Assistant, talks to our server: for your licence and the trial. For the licence it sends a licence ID, a random home ID, a hashed ID of your installation and the version. Never your devices, rooms, names or states. There is no telemetry. One exception: music covers. They come through Home Assistant or the Music Assistant in your home, and a cover your screen cannot show (for example Apple TV artwork on an Android tablet) is converted inside your home by our integration. Only if that fails too does your screen fetch the picture from the music service on the internet, as a last resort. You can switch this off in Settings.

8. Does it work without internet?

Your screens need only your Home Assistant. Your Home Assistant needs internet now and then for the licence: a subscription is checked about once a day and stops 7 days after a month without checks; a one-time licence needs one check after its first 14 days, then works without internet. The licence page has the details.

9. What happens if your server is down, or if you stop the product?

If our server is down for a while, nothing changes for homes already activated: the licence is checked in your Home Assistant. New activations wait until it is back. If we ever stop for good, we publish a final version that needs no licence check.

10. Can a licence problem lock my alarm or my doors?

No. Nucleum Hub never controls a lock or the alarm on its own, and without a licence it shows only its activation screen: your devices, automations and the Home Assistant app keep working as before. And Nucleum Hub does not replace your alarm keypad or your key. Keep both.

Trial and licences

11. What happens when the 60-minute trial ends?

Nucleum Hub shows only the screen to activate a licence, with a button to Home Assistant. Your home keeps running, and you control it from the Home Assistant app. Buy a licence, paste the key, and everything comes back with your setup as you left it.

12. How many screens and homes does one licence cover?

One home, with unlimited screens and users. One home means one Home Assistant installation. You can also run one test installation on the same licence; it shows a “Test” badge. A second home needs its own licence.

13. I am moving to new hardware. Do I lose my licence?

No. Restoring a Home Assistant backup keeps it. On a fresh install, you move the licence yourself, up to 3 times in 12 months. Selling the house with the licence? Write to us and we transfer it.

Plans, renewals and refunds

14. What happens if I stop the subscription?

It ends with the month you paid for. Then Nucleum Hub shows only the screen to activate a licence; your setup stays in Home Assistant, and a new subscription or a one-time licence brings everything back. With the one-time licence, you keep the last version of your year of updates, with its security fixes.

15. What is an LTS version?

Once a year we mark one version as long-term support (LTS). The first is 1.0. Each LTS line gets security fixes for at least 5 years, and we publish its end date.

16. How do I cancel the subscription?

In Paddle’s customer portal, from the link in Paddle’s e-mails, or on Cancel your subscription here, without signing in. No phone call. It ends with the month you paid for.

17. What is your refund policy?

Your first payment back within 14 days, on both plans. Monthly renewals are not refunded: cancel any time, and the subscription ends with the month you paid for. Cancel within 14 days of your first payment and you get that payment back; the licence then ends at once.

18. Who sells it, and who sends the invoice?

Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle takes the payment, sends the receipt and the invoice, and handles VAT and sales tax. We never see your card. Your licence key comes from us, by e-mail.

Using it

19. Can I stop the children from changing the layout?

Screens signed in without admin rights cannot change the common dashboard: their edits stay on that screen. A PIN lock for editing is planned, but it is not in version 1.0.

20. Which languages does it speak, and in which languages do you answer?

The interface speaks 12 languages: English, Romanian, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Swedish, Czech, Danish and Portuguese (Brazil). We answer support in English and Romanian, and every answer is checked and sent by a person. In the other ten languages we also use AI translation, and we say so in the reply.
