Companion app and Fully Kiosk

Nucleum Hub runs in any screen signed in to your Home Assistant. Two ways are the most common: the Home Assistant app on phones and tablets, and Fully Kiosk Browser on a tablet that stays on the wall.

Phones and tablets: the Home Assistant app

  • Install the Home Assistant Companion app (iOS or Android) and sign in to your Home Assistant.
  • Open Nucleum Hub from the sidebar. That is all: it shows the common dashboard, or the one you give that screen or that user.
  • The battery next to the clock: if the browser inside the app does not report it, choose the device’s battery sensors from the Companion app. In edit mode, tap the battery next to the clock to choose its sensors or hide it.

A wall tablet: Fully Kiosk Browser

  1. Its address is http://homeassistant.local:8123/nucleum-hub, with your Home Assistant’s address instead of homeassistant.local:8123.
  2. In Fully Kiosk Browser, use that address as the start URL.
  3. Sign in to Home Assistant once, with “Keep me logged in”.
  4. In Fully Kiosk’s own settings, keep the screen on and let Fully Kiosk start when the tablet starts, so the dashboard comes back by itself after a power cut.
  5. To hide Home Assistant’s sidebar on the tablet, open your profile there (your name, at the bottom of the sidebar) and turn on “Always hide the sidebar”. It applies to that browser only; to turn it off, open http://homeassistant.local:8123/profile on the tablet.

Fully Kiosk reports the tablet’s battery, so it shows next to the clock without any setting. Its PLUS licence, for the features that need it, is sold separately by its maker.

One screen, its own dashboard

  • On the screen itself: in edit mode, choose “Only this device”. It starts as a copy of what the screen shows now; the common dashboard is not changed.
  • From your laptop: assign a dashboard to the Home Assistant user the tablet signs in with, and arrange it from the bigger screen.
  • Sizes per screen type: card sizes and columns can differ on a phone, a narrow screen and a wide one, so arranging the phone does not move anything on the wall.

Settings for each screen

  • Light, dark or automatic, and the text size, from 80 to 150 %.
  • Back to the start page after 1, 2, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes without a touch, or never. It closes open windows, and never interrupts editing.
  • A wall tablet signed in without admin rights never changes the common setup: its edits stay on that screen, and it says so.
