Licence agreement (EULA)
Version of 23 October 2026.
1. Who this agreement is between
This licence agreement is between you and Iulian Maracineanu, natural person, author and licensor of the software, Romania ("we", "us"), who wrote Nucleum Hub and holds its copyright. Our details are on the legal notice.
Paddle sells you the licence as our reseller, under its own buyer terms; this agreement covers the use of the software, and our terms of sale add what we promise you about the purchase. The words "consumer" and "business" mean what they mean in the terms of sale.
2. How you accept it
- A paid plan: before you pay, our payment page asks you to tick a box to accept this agreement together with the terms of sale; the version you accepted is recorded with your order. The agreement then applies from your purchase.
- The trial: when you add the integration, Home Assistant shows you that the 60-minute trial starts when you select Submit, that the integration then contacts our licence server, and links to this agreement and to the privacy notice. By selecting Submit you accept this agreement for the trial.
- If you do not accept it, do not install or use the software. If you have already paid, the refund rules apply.
3. Words used here
- Software: Nucleum Hub, the dashboard and the Home Assistant integration that installs and updates it, with their updates.
- Home: one Home Assistant installation, with all the screens and users connected to it.
- Test installation: a second Home Assistant installation that you use only for testing. It shows a permanent "Test" badge.
- Key: the code you receive by e-mail after paying. Licence: the signed record that the integration receives in exchange for the key and checks in your Home Assistant.
- Plans: the monthly subscription and the one-time licence, as described in the terms of sale.
- LTS line: a long-term support version and its fixes. One line starts each year; the first is 1.0.
- Year of updates: the year after the purchase of a one-time licence, in which it gets every new version.
4. The licence we give you
We give you a non-exclusive licence to use the software. We do not sell or assign you the copyright, which stays with Iulian Maracineanu. The licence covers:
- What you may do: install, load, run, display and store the software, and install its updates, which includes the copies these steps need.
- Where: in one home, on as many screens and for as many users as you like, for private or business use, plus one test installation, which must not be used as a second home. A second home needs its own licence.
- Territory: the whole world.
- How long: with the monthly subscription, for as long as it runs, including the 7 days of grace after a failed payment. With the one-time licence, for as long as the software is protected by copyright, for the versions that section 10 gives you.
- The price: what you pay to Paddle, our reseller, for your plan. The trial is free.
You may not pass the licence on to someone else except as section 6 allows.
5. The trial
Without a key, the software runs as a trial of 60 minutes, counted by the clock, with every feature, once per Home Assistant installation and once per home. When the trial ends, the software shows only the screen to activate a licence; your home keeps working in Home Assistant. The trial costs nothing and never turns into a paid plan by itself.
6. Moving, backups and passing the licence on
- Restoring a Home Assistant backup keeps your licence. So does removing the integration and adding it again.
- You can move the licence to a new Home Assistant installation yourself, from the integration's settings in Home Assistant, up to 3 times in 12 months. More moves go through support. Moving the test installation does not count.
- If the same licence runs in two homes at once (for example from a copied backup), the software asks you to move one of them. Nothing is blocked automatically.
- A one-time licence can be passed on, sold or given away, with or without your house. Write to support from the e-mail address of the licence and give the new owner's e-mail address. We move the licence to the new owner, who takes it on under this agreement, and you stop using it. We only refuse while the licence is refunded, or while its payment is disputed.
- A monthly subscription is personal and stays with the person who pays it. If you sell your house, cancel your subscription; the new owner can start one of their own.
7. What the law always allows
Nothing in this agreement stops you from doing what the law on computer programs allows anyway (Romanian Law 8/1996, art. 77 to 81; Directive 2009/24/EC, art. 5, 6 and 8): making a backup copy; observing, studying and testing how the software works; correcting errors so that you can use it as intended; and decompiling it where this is needed for interoperability with other programs, within the limits set by law. A clause that tried to limit these rights would have no effect.
8. What you may not do
Within the limits of section 7, you may not:
- share or publish your key or your licence, or use one licence in more homes than it covers;
- get around, switch off or change the licence check, or help others to do so;
- sell, rent or sublicense the software, except by passing a one-time licence on as section 6 describes;
- remove the copyright or licence notices;
- use the Nucleum Hub name or logo in a way the trademarks page does not allow.
9. How the licence works
- You paste your key once in Home Assistant, in the settings of the Nucleum Hub integration (Settings › Devices & services › Nucleum Hub › Configure). The integration activates it for your home, receives a signed licence and checks it itself; your screens learn the licence state from it.
- The integration checks the licence with our server: about once a day for a monthly subscription and a test installation, about once a week for a one-time licence. What it sends is listed in Privacy and cookies.
- Only administrators see the licence state. Other screens see nothing about it.
- What never changes, whatever happens to your licence: your setup stays in Home Assistant and is never deleted, and your devices, automations and Home Assistant's own app and dashboards keep working.
- Without a valid licence (trial ended, subscription ended, refund, licence moved to another home), the software shows only the screen to activate a licence, with the reason and a button to Home Assistant. When a monthly payment fails, the licence keeps working for 7 days of grace, with a band that says so.
- Without the internet: a monthly subscription stops 7 days after the end of the month paid for if the integration cannot check it; a test installation stops 7 days after its last check. A one-time licence is temporary for its first 14 days; then it needs one successful check within 90 days, and from then on it works without the internet. After 30 days without a check it asks you to connect, so that it keeps getting the security fixes; it keeps working all the same.
10. Updates and the versions you keep
- Monthly subscription: you get every version released while it runs. When it ends, no version is kept: the software shows only the screen to activate a licence.
- One-time licence: you get every version released in your year of updates, and you keep every one of them forever, with every right this agreement gives. After the year, the security fixes come for the LTS line that started on or before its end. Versions released after the year that are not on that line need another year of updates, once we offer it. If you run a newer version when your year ends, the dashboard tells you, and you reinstall your LTS version from HACS.
- Security fixes: each LTS line gets them for at least 5 years from its first release. Its end date is on the releases page.
- Compatibility: for a version you keep, we repair free of charge any breakage caused by a new stable Home Assistant release, for at least 24 months from the first release of its LTS line.
- How updates arrive: in Home Assistant, under Settings › Updates, with release notes. An administrator decides when to install. To go back, in HACS, the integration's menu (⋮) › Redownload lets you pick an earlier version; then restart Home Assistant.
- The release notes say whether a new version changes or removes something you use, and which versions bring security fixes. We never present an update that only adds features as necessary.
- Beta versions are only for testers and are covered by a separate beta agreement.
11. Your data and your home
Your dashboard setup stays in your Home Assistant; we have no access to it. The screens talk only to your Home Assistant. The integration talks only to our licence server; it sends only what the licence needs. It will send feedback only once a later version can, and only when someone sends it. The details are in Privacy and cookies.
12. Other people's software and services
Home Assistant, HACS, Fully Kiosk, Music Assistant and the devices in your home are other people's products, under their own terms; we do not answer for them. The fonts included in the software are under the SIL Open Font License; their texts are on third-party licences.
13. Safety
Nucleum Hub shows and controls what your Home Assistant shows and controls, and what it shows depends on Home Assistant and on your devices. It does not replace your alarm keypad or your keys. Keep another way to disarm the alarm and to open the doors.
14. Legal guarantee
As a consumer you have the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and digital services: for the monthly subscription for as long as it runs, and for the one-time licence for defects that show within 5 years of the supply. It includes the updates, security updates too, that you can reasonably expect. How to claim it, and what you get, is in the terms of sale (section 12). This agreement does not limit it.
Besides the legal guarantee and the promises written in this agreement and in the terms of sale, we give no other guarantee. For example, we do not promise that the software works with every device, every integration or every future Home Assistant version; section 10 says what we do promise.
15. Liability
- Consumers: we answer as the law provides, without any limit set by this agreement.
- Businesses: for simple negligence, we do not answer for indirect loss, such as lost profit or lost data, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Nucleum Hub in the 12 months before the event.
- For everyone: nothing in this agreement limits or excludes a liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for defective products (Directive (EU) 2024/2853), for death or personal injury, or for intent or gross negligence.
16. The end of the product
If we stop developing and offering Nucleum Hub for good, we tell you by e-mail at least 90 days in advance and publish a final version without the licence check. Everyone with a one-time licence, or with a subscription running at that time, may keep using it forever, under this agreement.
17. Ending this licence
- You can stop using the software at any time by removing it. Money back follows the refund rules.
- After a refund, or when a subscription ends, the licence ends: the software shows only the screen to activate a licence. Your setup stays in Home Assistant.
- A one-time licence becomes permanent after its first 14 days and one successful check, and is never switched off automatically.
- A payment taken back through your bank: if you dispute the payment of a subscription, or of a one-time licence in its first 14 days, with your bank or card issuer, the licence ends, as after a refund. If you dispute the payment of a one-time licence after it became permanent, it stops receiving updates while the dispute is open; if the payment ends up returned to you, we may end the licence after telling you by e-mail, and if the dispute is settled in our favour, nothing changes.
- A serious breach: if you seriously break this agreement (for example, you publish your key or a way around the licence check), we may end your licence after telling you in writing and giving you 14 days to stop. Even then, your setup stays in Home Assistant and your home keeps working.
- Sections 7, 13, 14, 15 and 20 still apply after the licence ends.
18. Transfer to a company
The author may transfer this agreement, and the rights in the software, to a company that he controls. By accepting this agreement you agree to such a transfer in advance. We tell you by e-mail at least 30 days before it happens; your rights under this agreement stay the same. If you do not want the transfer, you can end the agreement before it takes effect, and you get back what you paid for any time of a subscription that is left. The author is not released by such a transfer: for purchases made before it, he stays answerable to you, together with the company, for the legal guarantee and for every promise of this agreement and of the terms of sale.
19. Changes to this agreement
A new version of the software may come with a new version of this agreement; the release notes say so. With a one-time licence, a new version of this agreement applies to you only once you accept it, and the updates you are entitled to are never made conditional on accepting terms less favourable to you: if you do not accept it, the agreement you accepted keeps applying to them. With a monthly subscription, if a change affects you, we tell you by e-mail at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before it does. A new version never takes away a right you already have for the versions you have.
20. Law, courts and language
Romanian law applies to this agreement. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection that the mandatory rules of your country give you, and you can bring a claim before the courts of Romania or of the country where you live; we can bring one against you only before the courts where you live. For businesses, the courts of Romania that are competent for the author's domicile decide.
This agreement is written in English and translated into the other languages of this site; if a translation differs from the English text, the version that is more favourable to you applies. Every version is published with its date. You can save or print this page, and we send you the version that applies to you if you ask.
